Two people recently died in a car accident on Rock Point Road, just west of Kings Farm Place in Charles County. The accident reportedly occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. July 14. Troopers from the La Plata barrack of the Maryland State Police arrived at the scene and conducted the preliminary investigation. According to officers, a 2007 Chrysler 300M was heading west on Rock Point Road when it suddenly crossed over the double yellow center line, hitting a 2014 Ford F-150 head-on as it traveled east on the same road. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, and the driver of the Chrysler (a 72-year-old woman) was ultimately pronounced dead. The 67-year-old driver of the Ford was extricated by responders from the fire department and transported to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. He also succumbed to his injuries. It is uncertain what caused the driver of the Chrysler to swing into oncoming traffic initially.
