MARK DOLAN MUDD
September 6, 1974 Admitted to the Maryland Bar December 15, 1999 Law Practice 1999 - Present |
In 1999 the world population was 5.996 billion; William J. Clinton was President and Albert Gore, Jr., Vice President; the cost of a first-class stamp was $.33; the U.S. Senate opened the Impeachment Trial of President Clinton and ultimately acquitting and rejecting Censure; 48.5 million people tuned in to Monica Lewinsky's first televised interview; Connecticut was the National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Champion; Joe DiMaggo, John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy passed away.
In 1999, the population of Charles County exceeded 110,000 and on December 15, 1999 in Annapolis, Maryland, Mark Dolan Mudd signed his name to page 778 of the Maryland Court of Appeals Test Book certifying his admission to the practice of law before all Courts of the State of Maryland.
Mark Dolan Mudd was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 6, 1974, the third of eight children born to John F. and Mary Moreland Mudd; he grew up on the family farm, where his father was reared, and received his primary and secondary education in the parochial and public schools of Charles County graduating from Maurice J. McDonough High School in 1992.
Mark Mudd received his B.S. Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1996 and his Juris Doctorem Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1999. Upon concluding a clerkship for the Honorable Richard H. Sothoron, Jr. in the Circuit Court for Prince George's County, Maryland, he entered the practice of law in La Plata with the Professional Association of Mudd, Mudd & Fitzgerald, ushering in the fourth generation of Mudd lawyers to the law practice commenced by his great grandfather. With his father, John, and uncle, Tom, each known to the staff as "Mr. Mudd" the new Barrister in the office was disappointed to find himself referred to as just plain "Mark."
Prior to settling his professional course in the law, Mark held jobs during college and law school summers on local farms, and with landscaping and construction companies. He enjoyed the outdoor work and satisfaction accompanying same and continues to enjoy working on his families' farms and engaging in household construction projects. In addition, Mark is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing and the "toys" associated with his hobbies.
Mark is a member of the Charles County Bar Association, (past Director), Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Young Lawyers Bar Association, (past circuit Representative), and Charles County Chamber of Commerce, (present Director); he is a Court-Appointed Auditor for the Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland.
Although Mark describes his avocation as the "general practice of law," (excluding criminal and domestic matters, which are specialties of his father and partner, John E. Ray) he concentrates on contractual real estate and business matters.
Currently, Mudd, Mudd & Fitzgerald, P.A. consists of eight attorneys, providing experienced representation in the fields of personal injury, criminal, civil, business, real estate, probate, estate planning and family law matters. With partners John E Ray, Stephen P. Fitzgerald, John F. Mudd and Thomas F. Mudd, and associates Mistey L. Metzgar, Bradley F. Fowler and Rachel J. Kanner, Mudd, Mudd and Fitzgerald provides counsel and advice to corporate, business, and institutional clients, as well as to individuals of all walks of life.
Mark and his wife Heather reside in Hughesville, Maryland, with their two sons, Dolan, age 5, and Tyler, age 3. In addition to the outdoors, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as with his seven siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
